Creating successful design solutions in any commercial real estate venture relies on integrating program, budget and market factors into the creative process and design workflow from the onset.
Although Rich’s architectural education was design theory focused, it also provided much real-world exposure to the constructibility, building systems technology and business aspects of architecture. That balance, as well as an emphasis toward Urban Design, underpins the design approach he has carried with him throughout his career.

RICHARD WILDEN ARCHITECT
Rich’s career path afforded him the ability to establish a design ethos that is rooted in listening, understanding, and prioritizing his clients’ objectives within the larger context of the financial, public welfare, sustainability and best-practice influences of every project. He has developed expertise in specialized areas such as planning, retail, multifamily and senior living, but remains a generalist who approaches any design challenge with creativity and enthusiasm.
As a design leader, his passion for design and ability to capitalize on the diverse strengths of his team have combined with his philosophical framework and methodology to result in successful outcomes... the design of cool, experiential and meaningful places. Rich’s ability to identify and nurture talent have been key success factors in molding a creative, collaborative, fun, if sometimes irreverent, studio environment. His penchant for "leading by example", and his ability and willingness to tackle any design task, strengthens his credibility and trust within his Studio, as well as consultant teams.
Rich has established a reputation of delivering the highest caliber of work for his clients, which has earned him an equally high degree of trust. Part of that success comes from his years mastering that expertise and recognizing the most effective solutions for the given situation, and having the array of tools to approach each challenge appropriately.
Rich lives with his wife in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood where they own property and intend to build a house in the near future. They currently live in a loft conversion inside a former historic department store, somewhat fitting since he’s been involved with several redevelopment and adaptive reuse projects repurposing recently closed department stores.
